Call for art: "Stand By Me"

Limited Exhibition at Aplomb gallery in Dover, NH

Artists are invited to submit 1 to 20 works inspired by the theme “Stand By Me,” with the prompt as it relates to allyship. Interpretations may be abstract or representational and is not limited to figurative work. This is a limited opportunity exhibition at Aplomb Contemporary Gallery. Based on the submissions received, the exhibition will be curated as either a solo exhibition, a duo presentation, or a small group show of up to eight artists. The final format will be determined through the jurying process. Juried by Gallery Director Danielle Festa. All exhibition entry and commission costs are donated towards The Aplomb Project, a 501(c)3 dedicated to supporting trauma survivors with the healing power of art.

About the Juror:

Danielle Festa has been working as a conceptual realist since graduating with a BFA concentrating in painting from UMASS Amherst in 2007. She has curated exhibitions in Boston, Somerville, MA, Dover, NH and in Virtual Reality. She is a member of NHAA, The Women's Caucus of the Arts and was the Director of the first Friday Dover Art Walk from 2017-2020. She now owns and operates Aplomb Contemporary Portrait Gallery where she exhibits group shows, solo shows and presents her tribute oil portraits via The Aplomb Project.

Aplomb Gallery resides at Cocheco (CO-chi-co) on N’dakinna (n-DA-ki-na), now called Dover, New Hampshire, which is the unceded traditional ancestral homeland of the Abenaki (a-BEN-a-ki), Pennacook and Wabanaki Peoples, past and present. We acknowledge and honor with gratitude the land, waterways, living beings and the Aln8bak (Al-nuh-bak), the people who have stewarded N’dakinna (n-DA-ki-na) for many millennia.
