A healing labyrinth is a meditative path designed for reflection and emotional release. Unlike a maze, it has a single, non-branching route that leads to a central point and back. Walking it encourages mindfulness, helping individuals manage stress, process emotions, and find inner peace. Often used in trauma recovery, grief support, and cancer care, the labyrinth’s calming, repetitive movement promotes healing and self-discovery.
Join in-person at Aplomb Gallery or on zoom for this special 90-minute workshop! Advanced registration is required by November 1 so we can get you a mini labyrinth.
This meditative workshop offers us the opportunity for renewal during challenging times. We will explore movement through gentle bodily awareness, and art /journaling, utilizing the gift of the labyrinth to support, restore, nurture, and gain insight on our journey.
Finger Labyrinths are provided but virtual participants should bring paper or a sketchbook and a drawing utensil.
Thank you to the The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to help make longer format workshops possible through a grant!
About the instructor:
Carol Ellis' formal training began in the 1980s as a Design Major, with a focus on illustration, textiles, and three-dimensional mediums. After having children, she completed a Recreation Therapy Certification, specializing in art, music, and movement, and worked primarily with elders, focusing on those suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. She later earned a Master’s degree in Integrated Art while teaching Fine Arts at the high school level for 21 years, where she taught painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry making, and art with glass.
In 2002, Carol opened her jewelry studio, Laborata Studio, offering a variety of metalsmithing classes and workshops in the evenings for adults. She has continued her studies in metalsmithing and enjoys sharing her knowledge of metallurgy with students, offering support for their creative endeavors.
With years of practice and a deep interest in Eastern philosophy and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Carol has completed four programs: a 200-hour RYT yoga, two 300-hour RYT yoga certifications, a 300-hour certification in TCM and Qigong, and she has attained the Grand Reiki Master level. She has always felt a strong connection to sharing perspectives and techniques through various mediums.
Recently, Carol has created several "Art for Stress Reduction" workshops, designed to address the habitual stress we all experience, whether due to daily struggles, illness, or the shifting changes in the world. She finds great joy in providing artistic prompts and creating a space for individuals to explore, release, and restore harmony to their well-being, whether through yoga, Qigong, meditation, Reiki, or art. https://www.laboratastudio.com/
