Identity Map Drawing

You are many things.

You are many things, but chances are you don't take much time to reflect on this.

I took some time to write and paint a visual mapping of my identity after a suggestion from my therapist to explore what it might look like if I laid it all out. The exercise gave me an opportunity to appreciate all the facets of my life that I often overlook.

I invite you to try this too.

Be generous in naming the various roles you play for yourself and the people in your life. Hopefully after you are done, you will visualize the many parts that make you, well, you.

It is my belief that simply giving yourself time to make something has a benefit. That is part of why I founded The Aplomb Project and why we started a community. Art in itself is healing.

*While The Aplomb Project presents these mindfulness exercises that can be done on your own, we also emphasize the importance of certified therapists. If you or someone you know is seeking additional support, please find a list of resources here.
